ABOUT US

Selwyn Dental is a practice limited to Prosthodontics in Rolleston that provides advanced restorative and surgical treatments for patients of existing dental practices who need expert care. We work exclusively in the fields of Prosthodontics, Implants and Hygiene to provide a complete solution for most dental conditions.

The balance between aesthetics and functionality, one cannot exist without the other.

OUR STORY

We arrived in NZ in 2019 looking for a better lifestyle for us and our small children and decided on Rolleston due to the sense of community, the kind people and the family friendly atmosphere. Not long after we created Selwyn Dental - Restorative and Implant Centre to better serve the Selwyn community and to provide expert-level diagnostic, clinical and technical services locally.

We are proud to be able to design smiles and create customised treatment plans for our patients that are functional, beautiful, practical and realistic. We are committed to using only the highest quality materials and technologies from the USA, Europe, and Japan in all of our procedures and products, and have created a dedicated digital dental hub to cater for patients requiring complex and challenging procedures. We pride ourselves in the care that we provide our patients and invest heavily in training our team members to surpass your expectations.

OUR TEAM

Dr Paula Bower
BDS(Hons), GradDipClinDent(Implants), MClinDent(Prosthodontics)
Dr Paula Bower graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Honours from the University of Sydney and subsequently completed a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Implants) and a Certificate in Periodontics at the University of Melbourne. She has trained to a specialist level in the UK in Prosthodontics at King's College where she received her Master Of Clinical Dentistry in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics at Distinction level (Ranked worlds #1 Dental School in 2020 QS World Rankings).

She is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) by examination and a fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). She is a past co-director of the ITI study club Tamworth (Australia) and clinical tutor instructor at the University of Queensland and the University of Melbourne Dental Clinics. She was an examiner and mentor for the MRACDS stream of the RACDS and she has also held the role of Associate Editor for Clinical Case Report open access journal.

She worked extensively in the private sector in Australia, and operated her own dental practice in country NSW for 6 years. She has 20 years of clinical experience undertaking complex treatment planning and oral rehabilitation, and for the last 10 years has undertaken practice limited to advanced prosthodontics and implant dentistry.

She has placed and restored a large number of implant cases from simple single unit cases to complex, multiple unit cases with fixed and removable prosthesis including augmentation and sinus lift ancillary procedures. She is dedicated to achieving outstanding results for her patients utilising the most up to date techniques in a stress free environment

Andrew Bower
BEng, MEngSci, CertIII DA, DipPractMgmt
After many years of being a stay-at-home dad to three children, never in a million years did he envisage that he would be co-owner and Practice Manager at Selwyn Dental. While his job is to manage day-to-day business he is also our resident dental laboratory technician, designing and manufacturing all manner of dental prosthesis.

When not staining porcelain crowns in the lab he can be found auditing practice policies and procedures and chatting to patients, something he loves to do too much! Andrew lives by his ethos of "efficiency and reliability".

Outside of work Andrew enjoys skiing, camping and hiking as well as watching his daughter in ballet productions!
